The Northumberland village of Alnmouth lies on the River Aln and is located just 4 miles south east of Alnwick. There were two periods in its history when it staged race meetings. The earliest was on Monday 29th September 1845 when the meeting was held on Alnmouth Sands. In the 2 mile Purse of Gold it took Lady Flora three heats before gaining victory over Delerious. After a break of some years racing once again took place in the village on 25th September 1866 when Thomas Robson acted as Clerk of the Course, followed by a final meeting on Tuesday 6th August 1867 when Cowslip defeated four other runners to land the Alnwick Hunt Cup. |

Alnmouth Farmers Stakes 2 mile Hurdle Race

3. Howling Swell owned by Mr R Moralee
The winner wore Blue with a Chocolate sash and Blue cap; the second Blue Jacket and Crimson cap; the third wore Buff and Blue with a Black Cap.

1. Edgar owned by Mr Lowery
2. Marillo owned by George Tait
3. Polecat owned by Mr Wentworth
The winner wore Red, White and Blue; the second Scarlet with a White belt; the third wore Black. |
